argot starts out 2014 with the help of pittsburghs chase smith and his new single, stay. following releases for w.t. records and pittsburgh tracks, the up-and-coming producer hits new songwriting heights with *stay*, an impassioned modern disco tune featuring lauren ojanpas smouldering vocals and a live bass line courtesy of karl ojanpa. smith also provides the swift charge of *27 summers*, a rave-influenced house jam whose banged out piano chords and brass fanfare will stir the dance floor.

an award-winning lithuanian dj, pagalve shows up for the first vinyl record of shaded music. with more than 15 years behind as a dj, pagalve started to produce his own music back in 2002. his release *frozen tears* has got best traditions of groovy and dancefloor friendly techno tracks, highly influenced by evolution of modern dub techno sound. after admiring the original track of the record - *frozen tears, vidab and falkplatz label boss oliver deutschmann joined the forces with two fantastic remixes. raw basslines, firing percussion and the madness of dubby chords - that s a trademark of this record. it will hook you on right away!

a demo tape, sent to capitol records by the trash company in the early 90s, garnered this curt response from then president of the r&b division, joy bailey: some music was never meant to be heard. thug records returns with one of the most intriguing releases to grace the catalogue so far. not restricted by any one scene, max monroe of the trash company produces a hypnotic medley of original hard edge rhythm & blues, soul dance and classic psychedelic punk wave textures. armed with a condition known as synesthesia meaning he perceives sounds, words and letters in terms of color and a 4 track cassette recorder, the trash company has spent the last 30 years as a bedroom recording genius.

polymath james leyland kirby must surely have one of the most confounding cvs in the business: he spent years taking the piss out of the music industry with anthems rallying against the (vv)mcps, he notoriously fell out with various well known record labels for reasons you ll just have to google, goaded aphex twin with a series of tributes and channelled his love of everything from falco (rock me amadeus), chris de burgh, frankie goes to hollywood and stockport karaoke nights into a stream of increasingly bizzare 7 s back in the early noughties. but at the same time he was responsible for releasing some of the very earliest material from boards of canada (hell interface: 1997), made a ruck of frankly groundbreaking industrial electronic records, brought new beat to the worlds attention and, in 1999, made his first album as the caretaker, a project that would go on to release some of the most loved ambient/ lynchian albums of recent times.
